Seeing as a while new month has begun I figured it was time for an update, and to go to the community and say "Well Done!" to as many people as possible, because we all need a little help on the way.

The So Far, so good

1. Brush my teeth twice a day. I've actually got back out of bed to keep to this one.

10. Write something for a writing challenge each week. See sq_drabblers and thremedon communities.

14. Cook something from scratch every month
Sweet and spicy chicken, it''s a super easy receipe involving thai chilli sauce.

15. Bake something once a month.
  • 8 digestive biscuits
  • 50g butter , melted
  • 600g cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 175g caster sugar
  • vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs , plus 1 yolk
  • 142ml pot soured cream
  • 300g raspberries
  • icing sugar

  1. Heat the oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Crush the biscuits in a food processor (or put in a plastic bag and bash with a rolling pin). Mix with the butter. Press into a 20cm springform tin and bake for 5 minutes, then cool.
  2. Beat the cream cheese with the flour, sugar, a few drops of vanilla, eggs, the yolk and soured cream until light and fluffy. Stir in half the raspberries and pour into the tin. Bake for 40 minutes and then check, it should be set but slightly wobbly in the centre. Leave in the tin to cool.
  3. Keep a few raspberries for the top and put the rest in a pan with 1 tbsp icing sugar. Heat until juicy and then squash with a fork. Push through a sieve. Serve the cheescake with the raspberry sauce and raspberries.
25. See live music once a month. Some random blues band in Amsterdam.

28.
Read a new book every month. Havemercy, The Warrior's Apprentice, The Grand Sophy, Charlie Brooker's Screen Burn.

35. Recycle all plastics paper and glass.

37. Don't accept plastic bags at the supermarket.

41. Read all set books before the module starts. An Introduction to the French Revolution

44. Learn 5 new French words a week. Mostly. With a little help from some friends. Thanks!

58. Hoover the house once a week.

French Words en plus!!
1. confiture = jam [con-fEE-TYURE]
2. exprimer = to print (from a printer), or to describe, elaborate, or express [ex-prEE-MAY]
3. toit = roof [TWAA]
4. ascenseur = elevator [a-sonne-SUR]
5. chiante/chier = an expression akin to "that sucks," but a little bit more impolite. Like "ca me fait chier," means "it drives me crazy," or "it pisses me off" and describing something as "chiante" means it "sucks" or it's "f**king crazy."

Good for you, I like the enviro-friendly ones. I keep thinking of new ones to add to mine, like the plastic bag one, but I don't know if that counts since it's not something I do anyway *shrugs*

What was your favourite book of the ones you read?

Thank you, trop gentille. Good mix of words!

The environmental ones are things I only really started once I was at uni and living with other v ethical people. It's easier than you think though.

Arg, I don't know! I loved Havemercy, but it had flaws, a couple that really bothered me, but the characters were so brilliant...
Warrior's Apprentice has the Worst Cover Ever, but I fell totally in love with the main character, Miles. It got a bit confusing at times, but it's so cool and unusual.
The Grand Sophy was lent to me by a friend's mum (his dad lends me fantasy and scifi, i love them!)It's a regency romance but the way it's written is very funny and the main character is not the standard romance heroine, she's too tall and blunt and more than a little scheming. But she marries her cousin, as they tend to do...
Screen Burn is a collection of articles written by one of my favourite columnists for the Guardian. He is very dry and bitter, very witty and smart with it though.
I think maybe Havemercy edges it. Maybe!
