Please, have a cake.

I'm [livejournal.com profile] laliandra , mostly shortened to Lal. I'm prone to rambling, spontaneous singing, sarcasm and absent-mindedness. I wish I could carry the whole of XKCD round with me to sum up my life. I would kind of like to be a con woman or a Blue Peter presenter when I grow up.

I have a livejournal account that I live at, a Twitter account (now locked but feel free to add me) that I mostly use to flail at people and an AO3 account that I love.

I write fanfiction and my Master List is under the cut. I feel so accomplished, you have no idea. This is literally the most organised thing in my entire life.

Um, my feeling about friending is, essentially, YAY FRIENDS \o/

Please, do friend me, and then leave me a comment so I know who you are and so we can get to know each other. This is the place to ask any questions that you might have or say hi or point out any terrible typos or bad Americanisms or general fails I have made in my fics. Seriously, it takes a village, you're welcome to join mine.

More About The Author :D

Due a nomadic childhood I have a weird nowhere accent that confuses people. Once upon a time I was a student of French and History and I still love to talk languages (moods! Loan words! translation loss!) and how the people of the past are not the Other but just us, then. I recommend books both personally and professionally and inhabit a tiny London flat with my tiny girlfriend and a large stuffed octopus.

I love a lot of fandoms and a lot of things that I am not actively fanish about but would love to ramble and squee with you about!

So, yes, anything you want to know, just ask! Here are some suggestions which I have shamelessly stolen from other posts. Top Fives! Random Facts about one of my Fics (like DVD extras only ramblier)! The Inside The Actor's Studio Quiz! Or anything you like.

Hey you guys!

*waves at new people* Hiheyhello I'm Lal. Lovely to see you. How have your *checks the day* Thursdays been? I spent most of mine eating icepops in the park because I'm English and suspicious of sunshine. It may disappear at any minute! FROLIC HARD.

If you want to add me on Twitter you should because sometimes things like this happen in my feed

BEST. EVER.

Also I have been having a lot of Thoughts about heist!AUs, aka the merry band of conpeople stories of my heart. I'm not sure what it says about me that I cannot get enough of Lying Liars Who Lie but whatever, any kind of AU where people are super smart and kind of criminal is pretty much guaranteed to be my favourite.

So when I saw the original facebook header I was like WHERE IS MY HEIST AU, SOCIAL NETWORK FANDOM? Come on, it would be so amazing. Mark as the head of a tiny criminal gang that everyone underestimates because of their youth and sweet looking faces until they pwn everyone and leave them sobbing in the ashes of their douchy big corporations? Win.

Which in turn made me think of this amazing gif of handsomeness, suit porn and fingersandleaningandnggggh. Ahem.

Inception/TSN? Arthur is like, I think you should tell me more about how that terrible man broke your heart and incidentally about those privacy settings on this "Facebook" thing... (because his research showed that the best way to get to Mark is through Wardo and the best way to get to Wardo is to look smoking hot and be super into him.) Orrr "speaking pointman to pointman". Even though I'm not sure that would be the casting I'd go for but STILL.

Also (Son of Also) it's been nearly two months and I haven't told any New York stories yet. Fail. What would y'all like to hear about?

Alsoalso (The Realsoing) I am going to be writing Glee fic for [livejournal.com profile] pod_together  and I'm not sure what to write yet so if you have had any wonderful fic ideas/thoughts/prompts throw them this way. I want to write something good because my podfic partner is really awesome *is smug*
laliandra: (campfire)
It’s only been a month! I! No, I have no excuses, I am the failiest blogger ever to fail at blogging. Aaaand now the word blog has stopped sounding like a word to me.

On with the con report!

YOU GUYS I WENT TO A FANDOM CONVENTION AND IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER.

I was staying with [livejournal.com profile] brimtoast in New York (you know, as you do) which will be part of another thing which I will totally get round to writing up and then [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith drove a Very Long Way and braved the wilds of New Jersey to come bop around NYC and the thriftstores therein with us for a few days, before driving the three of us to Boston for [livejournal.com profile] muskratjamboree

Oh yes, fangirl roadtrip! During which we listened to the Libertines and decided they are the most perfect The Social Network soundtrack band ever and that someone should make a vid to Can't Stand Me Now immediately and also The Fantasticks cast recording, with [livejournal.com profile] brimtoast telling us the story in between the songs. [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith did an extremely heroic job because it was dark and snowing A LOT and it turns out that it’s quite a long way to Boston *hopelessly English*.

We were supposed to be meeting [livejournal.com profile] shiningartifact and [livejournal.com profile] swiiftly at the hotel where the con was happening and where the five of us had a room. Fangirl sleepover! But, heartbreakingly [livejournal.com profile] shiningartifact hurt her back just a few days before and couldn’t come. The pining, it was epic. But we found ourselves a lovely [livejournal.com profile] swiiftly lurking in the lobby and then proceeded to not sleep, as we had planned to, but to go through her welcome pack, eat chips and then I read out the opening page in French for reasons that made a lot of sense at the time...

Which may be part of the reason that we all got up blearily late and I was still in the shower and [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith only half dressed when it was time to go down for breakfast and the welcome and icebreaker thing. So we missed those :/. But on the plus side it meant that when we did wander down we migrated to the craft table, which turned out to be a brilliant plan! Now, I am not an artistic person, at least not with Visual Mediums, but it turns out that I cannot resist the lure of photos of people I fangirl. And glitter pens. We ended up hanging out for about an hour and making some very useful signs for future panels.

Also [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith helped make a Very Special Picture of Gerard Way and brimtoast put googly eyes on Lord Voldemort which turned out to be too terrifying to exist *shudders*

I made this!
IMG_0451

The way MJ worked was that there were two panels every hour, so had you had to pick one that you were attending, which was sometimes nigh on impossible. Okay, so panel lists and reaction to follow. This might get long, kids.

A Round Up Of The Panels I Attended Part 1 )

After the panels we piled into the lift to find the The Social Network watching party.
[livejournal.com profile] novembersmith : Did you check for the room number?
Me: I was just following this person with the glittery “Social Network Party!” sign
[livejournal.com profile] zeenell : Er, hello!

The viewing party was probably one of my highlights of the whole weekend. There were delicious mudslides, which as far as I could tell are wonderful but lethal cups of various spirits mixed with ice cream. It was just a room of happy people, all laughing and being delighted to meet each other and fangirling each other and piling onto beds to watch a brilliant movie with brilliantly slashy subtext.

The Social Network: *starts to get pretty sad*
[livejournal.com profile] novembersmith : Lal! This is the point where we hold hands.
Me: *strickenface* YES I AGREE *clutches*
[livejournal.com profile] swiiftly : *takes [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith 's other hand from over on the other bed*
[livejournal.com profile] elipie : I know we have just met, but I think I need to clutch your hand also.
Me: I think so too!

So then everyone held hands to get us through the tough times. We may also have yelled at the screen some. These things happen. Afterwards we had to watch happy vids. Essentially, you haven’t lived until you’ve heard a bunch of fangirls sing along to Bad Romance while slightly tipsy and falling off beds laughing and dancing.

Then we went to get ready for the vid party! And by get ready I mean drink candy coloured drinks straight from the bottle and wander around in various states of undress. Because we are the classiest.

While waiting for the show to start we - possibly in a horse, stable door situation - had something to eat. I remember gesticulating a lot with a stick of celery. We also alarmed the random other people sitting at our table.

Me: You and your dead boys.
[livejournal.com profile] novembersmith : I know, I know. I just like writing about them...
[livejournal.com profile] swiiftly : But it’s ok!
Me: Because there’s no necrophilia!
[livejournal.com profile] novembersmith: EXACTLY.
Me: And no-one has actual sex with a dragon.
(please note, these are things that [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith has put in fic summaries/disclaimers.)
Girl At Our Table: Ohhhhkaaaaay. *looks at life, looks at choices*

There were a few technical difficulties which [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl dealt with a good deal less panic than I would have, and there a mass sing-along of a song about pirates. I don’t even know. But it was awesome. The vidshow was epic, I LOVE FANVIDS SO MUCH YOU GUYS. Even the ones for fandoms that I didn’t know. Watching vids with fangirls is such a great experience, listening to everyone laugh and cheer their favourite characters and also be utterly destroyed by this Harry Potter video. Seriously, the lights came back up just afterwards and everyone was just clutching each other and sniffling.

Then it was time to dance! I very much enjoyed that my dancing parters were also of the DANCE IN THE MOST DRAMATIC AND INTERPRETIVE WAY EVER school of movement, which is the best way of dancing ever, okay. Highlights were definitely doing the most energetic point at everyone dance with [livejournal.com profile] brimtoast , [livejournal.com profile] swiiftly and [livejournal.com profile] mistresscurvy  to If I Had You, the whole room bouncing for the whole of Planetary Go! (with added fabulousness from K), [livejournal.com profile] brimtoast and I learning the dance routine to Guilty Pleasure in about 3 choruses and yelling bed based Panic! lyrics at [livejournal.com profile] swiiftly .

There was a slight room keycard incident after the show but we managed to use our problem solving skillz for the win, and also I found an ice machine and vending machine with ginger ale in a hidden area around the corner from our room. My very important priorities, let me show you them.

In a slight tangent, I’ve just noticed how much internet specific language I’m using here, and it was definitely one of the things I enjoyed about MJ, getting to use all of these words that are day-to-day to me, but never get to say out loud in social situations. I mean, sometimes people used terms that other people didn’t get but it was just so, idk, freeing and lovely and easy to say things like “jossed” and “flist” and “fridged” and “bulletproof kink” and so on and so forth. Also people weren’t surprised when I finished a sentence with “I can’t even...” which confuses my boyfriend on a regular basis.

Anyway! Saturday!

A Round Up Of The Panels I Attended )

So, yeah, MJ. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done. So much love and kudos to [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl and [livejournal.com profile] mrsronweasley for organising it (while also moving house, wtaf, these women are superheroes). The level of planning and detail that went into it was incredible and it all went so smoothly.

I think the defining thing I will take away was how positive it was, in every possible way. You couldn’t move for people complimenting each other. Someone was always telling someone else that they just loved their cool geeky tee shirt or their hair or tattoo or their tights (:D). People saw usernames on name tags and ran up to say “I love your fic/art/post/general existance!” Seriously, someone hugged [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith for writing Anatomy of a Fall and me and [livejournal.com profile] brimtoast got all *proudtear* IT WAS AMAZING. And when someone said something funny, or clever or cool in a panel, and people were always saying funny, clever, cool things in panels, everyone was so appreciative. And it does bear repeating, the comments in the panels were of an incredibly high standard, I could hardly stand it. Fangirls are fucking hilarious, and they are damn smart and they are hella interesting.

And it was also positive because it really did feel like, I don’t know how to say this without sounding really cheesy, but it was just really open. Like, everyone got to talk about their kinks and their queerness and their stupid things that they just really, really love, they love them so much that it makes them make crazy hand gestures and squeaky noises and they can’t, they can’t even. And everyone else? Everyone else just said, HELL YES. ME TOO.

And on that note... <3

Hey y'all!

1. I RETURN! From the wilds of America. Admittedly I have been back a whole day but I spent most of yesterday asleep or just really confused by everything. My jet-lag (which I did not get at all going the other way) seems to be manifesting itself by having me wake up feeling like death and with dark circles under my eyes, the likes of which are usually only seen on TV detectives. And possibly RL detectives but I'm less exposed to them.

2. I had THE BEST TIME, OMG. Hello new friends from MJ! How are you coping with life without panels? I am probably going to try and write up my con report first and then my What I Did On My Holidays post after that. :D

3. In other VERY EXCITING NEWS the marvellous and talented [livejournal.com profile] shiningartifact has made a podfic of Say I'm The Only Bee In Your Bonnet \o/! And it's amazing, she completely nails the character voices and everything and aaaaaaah, it's so delightful. GO LISTEN AND TELL HER SHE'S WONDERFUL :D!

4. In fic news, part four of And The Sky Is Limitless is In Edits and Part Five is going along merrily. I spent a wonderful few days with my beta and best writing partner and we did a lot of talking about the various writing projects that are on the go at the moment (there was also some TERRIBLE ENABLING) but also, you know, we had important conventions to go to :D. Update in the next few days. If you would like to read some updates that did get all finished while we were together, you should read [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith 's amazing Social Network AU WIP, in which Eduardo is the Prince of Brazil and Mark doesn't care. Of Fortune And Men's Eyes. Gogogogo. Also, no self, we do not want to write Inception genderswap. No.

5. *basks in the sunshine*

6. How is everyone?
laliandra: (flag?)
Adding to the list of "Things I'd Never Done Before Inception (posted anon, posted on a kink_meme, angst, read WIPs, tracked WIPs) we now have comment fic. The ever delicious [livejournal.com profile] pyrimidine was having a terrible no good very bad day and wanted good things and a trip to tropical beach with beer. Because I lacked the technology or resources to make that happen, I decided to write something about people who don't.

I've stolen [livejournal.com profile] pyrimidine  's comment like a bandit for a summary and it probably needs a better title but it was this or " I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE TO SEND THE PASIV SO I GOT YOU THE NEXT BEST THING. IF BY NEXT BEST THING YOU MEAN SHODDILY DONE FIC THAT I WROTE IN A GMAIL DRAFT AT WORK. WHICH, SADLY FOR YOU, I DO."

Which means that yesterday at work I assessed and processed over 100 broken stylers and stealth wrote over 1000 words. On a Monday. I may never be this productive again.

Go To Your Happy Place
For: Pyrimidine, with <3 (it would also be for Van, lately in hospital, but they gave her the Good Drugs so I'm sure she's fiiine) and the Do Nothing Club
Summary: Arthur/Eames. DESERT ISLAND BREAKS. BEING DISTRACTINGLY NAKED. BOAT RIDES. QUESTIONABLE BOAT RIDES.
Disclaimer: 1) Inception remains not mine D: 2) I have never been to Uzbekistan or tried to buy an island.

Hey lovely flist!

Sorry about the hugely long entry of meme-ish doom that was my last post. I had fun, though!

There are a few things that either got lost in the word onslaught or are just awesome and I wanted to share.

LIST OF AWESOME

1. In case you missed my GLEEFUL TWITTERING or the fact that I mention it every other sentence, I'm going to America! WHEEEEEEEEEEEE! I have flights booked now and everything. And by everything I mean a snazzy dress to wear to the Jamboree and an approved visa waive thing.

So far the plan looks like this

23rd March - Fly to New York \o/

23rd March to 30ish March - BE IN NEW YORK. Hang out with [livejournal.com profile] brimtoast . Bake her and her boyfriend cupcakes. Keep their cats out of the frosting. Wander the park (or possible The Park).  See a show. Ride the A train. ??? . It's a vague plan. If anyone wants to come hang out, have coffee or a beverage of your choice, that would be awesome.

Travel to Boston

31st March to 1st April - FANDOM CONVENTION OMGOMGOMG. Or [livejournal.com profile] muskratjamboree as I believe people who are not one giant ball of squee are calling it *g*. Much Glomping! Fangirl sleepovers with [livejournal.com profile] brimtoast , [livejournal.com profile] shiningartifact , [livejournal.com profile] novembersmith and [livejournal.com profile] swiiftly (yes we are all sharing one hotel room. No, I do not think we will get a lot of sleep) Attend panels! Convert many people to the awesome of [livejournal.com profile] bookdeyada! Try not to make an idiot of myself in front of amazing many people! PROFIT!

At some point - Return to New York

5th April - Turn 24 (Oh my god)

6th April - Return home /o\

2. My work contract has been extended! Whoo! Until the end of February, possibly a bit longer. Which means that I will be able to sort out my finances and also be able to afford to actually do some things in New York. I mean, the thought of having this job for too much longer is kind of upsetting but NEVER MIND *thinks of the money*

3. The company I work for are having a ball to celebrate the company's 10th birthday and new product launch. Which means I get to go to a swanky do for free and drink swanky drinks and wear a very swanky dress. That is to say, my old prom dress that I am jazzing up for the occasion. I've dragged it from house to house for 5 years, it's good that it's finally getting some wear. Also that I get to be all, oh, this old thing, I just CUSTOMISED IT MYSELF *is the most hipster*

4. The ever fabulous [livejournal.com profile] kaiserkuchen drew amaaaaaaaazing The Hunger Games art for [livejournal.com profile] yuletart which everyone should go marvel at. My new goal in life is to have Kaz draw me beatiful and kickass outfits and then have someone make them for me. Look at those dresses, people! Paper dolls are made of WIN, I used to have sets and sets of them when I was younger. Plus this art is somehow fashionable, lovely and creepy as all hell so, you know, KUDOS TO HER.

5. I got a really incredible cupcake book for Christmas (my relatives know me so well! My Granny, as she tends to do, also bought me incredibly fabulous jewellery because she kind of rocks like that) and it has so many recipes in it that I just keep reading it over and over in a bakery daze. It's like porn. But I love it extra specially because it has a recipe for Tiramisu cupcakes! This is only truly exciting news to people who have read the Inception coffeeshop AU but OMG I CAN MAKE TIRAMISU CAKE. Now all I need is an Eames to make the coffee.

OKAY STOPPING NOW. How is everyone? Do you want to talk about cake?!
laliandra: (history)
This is such a self indulgent post, really, but my brain feels all implodey. I'm still getting over a throat infection and I slept on my friend's floor last night, which is the first bit on context you need. And Leeds train station was covered in posters for the Hush Hush sequel (the book that [livejournal.com profile] altogetherisi and I find more upsetting than Twilight. Really. What Aja (and awesome linkees) said, only with considerably more swearing. My hatred is endless) which made me full of violent thoughts. All in all, everything is a bit strange and vague with sleep and rage right now.

Mostly, though, my brain is being eaten alive by it being all WIPs, all the time...

So, this is what the inside of my head looks like...

Inception (Just in case you hadn't worked out that this fandom has eaten my brain or were worrying about running out of fic *g*)
Oh, so very many (dangerous) ideas )

*cries* Steampunk AI AU which has been a WIP for *mumblemumble* months. Years. Lifetimes.
I can practically write this part from memory )

500 words of Summer fics
Yes, yes, I know, not summer anymore )

Sigh. And those are only the ones that have a googledoc of their very own. I hope y'all are doing well! Feel free to commiserate or just say hi or whatever. It's all groovy <3

laliandra: (randj)
I keep thinking aout making a real, honest to God post. I am also thtinking about some sort of Intro/Masterlist post thing because, hi new people! I'm still trying to work out what people need to know about me. Suggestions?

But then I figured, ah, whatever, I might as well just throw together a random collection of things for y'all, featuring Inception, work, POST but sadly no bats.

Firstly, this is why I should always spend a lot of time on Skype with [livejournal.com profile] kaiserkuchen . But also why our Inception Big Bang plan is Somewhat  Vague (you guys we are doing Inception Big Bang and I am super excited and mildly terrified but GO TEAM US!)

Me: I don't know, whenever I think about Arthur's job I think, "what actually is a point man" and I just go to this weird 'A Very Potter Musical' place in my head.
Kaz: Two things about AVPM. No. Three things. Firstly, the Gotta Get Back to Hogwarts song is crazy catchy. The dude who plays Harry is crazy cute and the dude who plays Voldemort is like, craaaaaaazy hot.
Me: Yes, yes and yes. Anyway. So, I just think of Arthur standing up all earnest and going, "POINTMEN ARE PARTICULARLY GOOD FINDERS" and then Dom(bledore) squinting and saying, "... WHAT THE HELL IS A POINTMAN?"

Oh what times we have.

Inception Fandom remains incredible and really, really good for my Internet Bucket List. I was going to write "would be good for my Internet Bucket List" but that would be pretending that I don't have one. I am trying to keep up with the INSANE amount of fic being produced by reading on my phone on the way to work. Because I have [livejournal.com profile] bookshop 's delicious saved on my phone bookmarks like a creeper. Anyway, Say I'm The Only Bee In Your Bonnet now has 100 delicious saves! \o/ FOREVER! Plus [livejournal.com profile] taurenova has agreed to write her amazing AU (yay boybands!) if I write mine (er, ballroom dancing). This is actually the third Inception fic I have recklessly agreed to write via the medium of Twitter. The 140 characters makes me crazy, clearly. But, yes, so many lovely, lovely things :D

Incidentally, I love how we are all pretty clear about why we love Joseph Gordon-Levitt (because he is adorable and I have loved him for at least ten years ever since he was a snarky alien child and also he is seeeeriously hot. And also THIS  [he makes his own French part *_*]). But we all seem to be all kinds of confused about Tom Hardy, the man, the enigma. French film expert and shoe obsessive. Man with chav tattoos and who spells with numbers. IDEK, you guys, but ILHIM.

I have also recently got amazing post from Kaz and [livejournal.com profile] mcollinknight who sent me a awesome package with sweets and this amazing necklace which has flowers on one side and is made from an L scrabble tile. AN L FOR LAL SCRABBLE TILE, YOU GUYS. :D! And a postcard from [livejournal.com profile] shiningartifact , who went on holiday without telling me where and so I waited for her postcard to find out and it
was kind of super exciting for me. And also everyone else who I had told about this. Plus lovely voiceletters <3.

Work remains kind of this bizarre mixture of really dull and randomly hilarious. I work with this one guy who used to be in the army until he broke his leg in four places on a training exercise and it's so strange because I walk to work with him and he tells me about like, grouse shooting and kayaking and how he can't sleep because his company just got shipped to Afghanistan. And I tell him about how The Last Airbender is a bad, rascist movie and dancing. It seems to be working out okay.

Also we are all going out to a kareoke bar next month, as some sort of work bonding thing. We all have to sing. What the hell am I going to sing?!

And finally, in dancing news, I have started samba and reggaeton again :D. I went all of last year but I haven't danced since. It does mean that I have a *calculates* 14 hour day on Mondays, but it's so very worth it. I feel achey but very satisfied and I'm looking forward to feeling more fit and flexible. Plus I love my teacher, she's so great, and the whole class spent our break talking about Strictly Come Dancing. I love that show more than anything. It is genuinely my favourite show on television, the happiest of all happy places. Twitter friends, I'm really sorry about the spam, but love makes me crazy.

I think that's everything? I hope y'all are doing well. Tell me some news! I have seen many entries that I mean to reply to (OMG, Anna, seriously, you rock) and I will hopefully get round to it at some point. I pledge a love eternal to every one of you &hearts
laliandra: (cakey thoughts)
I have said, "UGH" this week more times than during the rest of my life. It seems like me and everyone I know is having the Worst Week in the World. Personally, I now know what it the sound of a train engine exploding sounds like, and (in a separate incident) what being severely electrocuted feels like. That is the extra-ordinary level of fail we are talking about. To cheer us all up, I have more 500 words of summer fic!

I have, of course, been utterly shambolic about this and have been writing three people's prompts all at once (soon, Ria, soon), with a fourth one simmering. Ugh. Furthermore, I fail so hard at brevity. This, in my defence, is two prompts in one!

This story is for my dearest [livejournal.com profile] kaiserkuchen  who wanted people eating French desserts, combined with [livejournal.com profile] isil_helyanwe  's incredible question of "But what does Arthur, Mr Besuited and Buttoned up, do to cope with the heat". And anyone who is having a Bad Week and needs a break from the angst. And, as ever, Inception fandom, my love for you remains earnest and derpy.

The rest is all entirely my fault and under the cut for your soothing, fluffy, cake filled needs. More notes on the food at the end.

Les Petits Plaisirs d'Ete )
laliandra: (dreams)
What's this you say, two fics in rapid succession? Yes, yes I say, because Inception fandom is crazy, inspirational and also Dubai. I feel like one of those woman on the Shopping Channel, "If Inception Fandom can make a serial procrastinator finish two fics in one week, just imagine what Inception Fandom can do for YOU" * earnest face, intense eyes*

Anyhow! This fic actually came first but then it kicked my ass all over town and so I ran off and took the train to cutesville (it's nice there). But now I feel something in between "I think I'm actually done :)?" and "D: compulsion to edit every word D:" And then the whole thing become more and more canon so I thought I'd better post before the whole fic had already been done.

So! Here comes the usual Rambling Disclaimer Explanation thing. I feel like I should say that this fic is very different to Say I'm The Only Bee In Your Bonnet (but if you are after more coffee/papers/banter AU you should read [livejournal.com profile] thehoyden 's diner!AU which is the fic mine wants to be when it grows up). Also, although this was written for a kink_meme, I seemed to have missed the whole kink part. Unless, like me, you get hot under the collar for introspective backstory and boys in uniform ;)

Fic! It is below the cut and on the AO3 for your reading enjoyment.

Improvise, Adapt and Overcome

Summary: For Arthur, war is losing. For this (awesome) prompt at the kink_meme.
Disclaimer: a) Inception is still not mine b) I have never been in the military
Many thanks and hearts to kaiserkuchen and shiningartifact for all their help, cheerleading and comma aid <3<#.

Improvise, Adapt and Overcome )

The thing is...

Well. The thing is...

Inception fandom is so smart and I have so many ideas and yet. Obviously the thing I ended up actually finishing was a really ridiculous and so-cute-it's-cutesy AU. Mostly about crosswords.

Y'all, my facepalm is so epic it can probably be seen FROM SPACE.

Anyway, I have to learn to love my crazy baby from a one night stand (I wrote it from 11pm to 1.30am) and also posting it here means that I actually get to fix the many, many errors that I found in it after I posted. It turns out that my shame over the sheer ridiculousness of the "plot" is as nothing compared to the shame of having mispelled "Dow Jones". Also this is the first fic I've finished in, er, eight months? Which is not to say I haven't been starting things. I have at least 100,000 words of starts. So, finishing something is good. Right?! And I do actually of enjoy unabashed cute while being :/ about it. Life is hard for a cynical romantic, okay?

Anyway! I think that is enough discussion of my Issues and massive amounts of pretentiousness. If you would still like to read this fic, you can do so under the cut or at the AO3
