Things That I Would Like To Share

 Hey guys!

I have about 4 posts that I want to make queued up in my head, so here we go! This one has the vague theme of "I made a thing! Would you like it?"

First of all, I took part in podklb's amazing Awesome Lady Podfic Anthology project for the halfamoon  fest, which celebrates fabulous ladies. A whole bunch of awesome podficcers read ficlets from the Awesome Ladies Ficathon. 

You can download the anthology as a podbook here (right-click and save), and there are alternate ways to download at the master post (for example, you can browse by fandom and DL individual files).

It was a really great project to be a part of, I had a lot of fun recording my two ficlets and I've listened to the whole thing all the way through once and plan to re-listen approximately five billionty times. There are over 70 ficlets read by many really amazing ladies, and I know I'm going to enjoy it so much. Even the fandoms that I don't know, I have loved the ficlets for.

Anyway, podklb is a superstar for organising and collating it, and all the readers did a bang up job, so y'all should DOWNLOAD, LISTEN, COMMENT, PROFIT \o/

I recorded two ficlets, one from the Awesome Ladies Ficathon and one from the Real Woman Fest. I've never recorded anything properly before and it was difficult and strange and great. You can download and listen to them if all you want is to hear my Mysterious Cadences but I really recommend the whole project :D

Also, yes, I am aware of the horrible background buzz. I tried, god knows how I tried to get rid of it, but essentially Audacity hates me and my face. Woe. 

I'd love to know what you thought of them!

So podklb was like, I would die of happiness if someone recorded this and I aim to kill please. This fic is lovely and lyrical and so, so smart, and Kate's actress POV is perfect and it makes her and Leo make so much sense to me. 

Aaaaaand for nearly a year the lovely brimtoast and I have been running this little thing called bookdeyada_club (which used to be at a journal but we've made into a comm). It's an extremely cool fandom centric bookclub. Which is to say, we all come from fandom so when we talk books we use internet language and talk Fake Boyfriend tropes and sometimes I say ridiculous things like I think fanfic is our fairytales and people agree and there is unadulterated squee. It's a really friendly, smart, comfortable place and I love it a lot.

We read a book every month. Members nominate a book and then we have a comm wide vote to pick. Nominations for our next book open on Monday!

And seeing as we've moved to a proper community and we're getting older and wiser, we are having a membership drive of sorts! So if this is something you think you'd like please join us (watch me try and fail to sound creepy. Join usssss). Or help us pimp our lovely club with these amaaaaaaaaazing banners that the super talented miabee023 made for us :D

I want those female centric fics!!!! Hmm. Must make time for something besides writing h/d drabbles and stalking the band.

Well, I did get voted out of the h/d last drabble writer standing, so that's at least a few several hours a weekend! Which i seem to have replaced with BAND. Hey, Lala, GOING TO ANY OF THE REMAINING SHOWS????????????????

I know, you have a trip coming up to the wrong side of the States. :) But still. BAAAAND.

Well, the awesome thing about podfic is that you can listen to it while doing other things. Housework! Exercise. It's fanfic for all places :D

But yes, the stories are SO GOOD.

AH BAND. Sadly no. Even if I wasn't saving for my trip (omgomgomgomg) I wouldn't have anyone to go with and the tickets went like, in five seconds.

It would be MORE THAN OKAY.

Oh my God, Lal, I miss you so much, and I'm never around lj lately (maybe except to look for Glee Kurt/Blaine fics, because sometimes one needs some sugar to coat that homophobic discussions one hears in media too often lately, do you know any good, by the way?), and work is absolutely crazy (but good crazy, I think), and I just am absolutely out of loop, but the awesome ladies project sounds, well, awesome, so I'm gonna look at it some day soon. HOW ARE YOU?
Also, bookdeyada banners are made of pure win, seriously. Maybe they'll inspire me to not chicken out at the last moment and never post there, ha ha. But really, so much love.

I too only dabble in Glee fandom, just got suddenly hit by the Blaine/Kurt something last Friday, out of nowhere, or rather, out of a long and unfortunate streak of self-cheering youtube jumping. No worries! I love to rec, and I read so much fic at the moment, because of all the time I spend on public transport... I watch Glee on and off, because it makes me very happy and also very rage filled. But Chris Colfer has always been my favourite and now Kurt is getting a great storyline and is boyfriend is DARREN CRISS AKA HARRY FRICKIN POTTER I mean COME ON. I am so charmed by someone who is internet famous becoming actualfax famous.

Ah, yes, I tend to find people who's opinion I trust and then stalk them in a totally non creepy way. Obviously.

Ah, no, I leave in a month. A month today, March 23rd. I am so excited! You may, again, imagine me wandering the decks, book in hand. I do not wish to take away from that mental image.

Ah, yes, Glee I think has that effect on everyone, no? It's kind of incredible, how they could mix fail and good things in one. :D I must admit, more often than not I just watch leaked song vids and read recaps...:) (although I'm seriously debating wanting dvd for my birthday, but...eh). Anyway. I'm all for Chris Colfer getting more screen time (and singing opportunities, oh my God), not to mention the boyfriend.:) And yes, I'm glad I'm not the only one being so proud and happy of every person from fandom getting actualfax famous, it's so wonderful! Not to mention the fact that Darren Criss is so lovely unapologetically over the top that if I were into crushes on boys, I'd have a huge embarrassing crush on him. :D
So I'd be more than happy if you'd share in the future any worthwhile fics (hmmm, do you have a delicious? :)), of this is not a problem. Also, pffft, obviously non creepy. *shifty eyes*

Um, reading fail on my part, sorry. But it's awesome anyway!

I'd love to talk books too, but I'm not up to intellectual discussion, I'm afraid. I'd use lots of capslock and loose my English halfway through. I don't know, maybe this is my Awful Very Bad Day I'm having today talking. :( Time to re-read something nice, I think. :)

Hi, I hope it's all right if I pop in and say that the kind of discussion you're talking about would be a *wonderful* contribution, because other people who also talk about books that way will see it and feel like they can join in, too.

I never meant for the way I talk about books to be seen as the only correct way to do bookdeyada. I just... naturally talk that way, and naturally talk a lot. And then as a mod of bookdeyada, I make a point of hanging around the discussions a lot to try to keep things lively, which means I talk even *more* than usual...

But it has the bad side effect of making people think that the way I discuss books is The Way It's Done Here. That's definitely not the message I want to send. So I would absolutely love if you would step in and help provide examples of other awesome ways (and all ways are awesome ways) to talk about books.

Hi! Sorry it took me so long to respond, I was actually thinking about how to do it and finally decided to just reply already:)
I wanted to say that you're a wonderful mod, and you were so nice to me when I had problems with my book shipping (it came, finally!:)), and I felt like crap for chickening out of discussion in the end, but the thing is, I'm just scared of saying what I think, you know? I actually like the way you discuss books, and admire all of you immensely, and would like to one day be able to join you without cringing in stupid, stupid fear, but it will probably take me some more time. And maybe in the meantime I will just squee and capslock, or try small steps, or just lurk around--but I really want you to know that I never ever felt unwelcome in bookdeyada, all right?
Sorry, this is kind of an extreme overshare, isn't it. /o\ But. Don't worry, you've been all the most welcoming and wonderful book club from the very beginning.

It's all right; take all the time you need. One of the reasons (at least in my mind) that we've been focusing on getting new members is to take the pressure off members who enjoy participating silently. That way, there will be enough people who do want to take that we can have a lively conversation, but there will also be room for people to participate just by reading and watching without feeling like they need to do more until/unless they feel ready to.
