S I just got back from seeing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

And I really need to talk about it because the friend I went with has gone home and my boyfriend has been very patient with my squee but really couldn't care less.

I LOVED IT SO MUCH.

I AM SO HAPPY WITH EVERYTHING THEY DID, OMG.
I propose that those of us who have seen it play a game.

Pick 5 moments/performances/lines that you loved. And then we will ~discuss.

Here are mine to start us off

1. The sheer subtle creepy of Hermione disappearing from her parents life through the photographs.

2. The fact that everyone in my cinema cheered and whooped as the music started.

3. The Soviet style of the anti muggle propaganda

4. Luna. <3. But mostly her dance with her Dad

5. Runcorn doing DanRad's loping walk.

OK GO

Um. Okay, remember you already know one of these!

1. Rhys Ifans! I said as soon as he was cast that he was the perfect Xenophillius Lovegood. And he was. Just the deft little touches in that scene in the house - the way you knew something was wrong without anything being said. (And also his chameleon accent! I've seen him do an amazing Aussie before and now a solid Irishman. <3_<3)

Actually, while we're on new actors - Bill Nighy, how so wonderful? (My Mum actually said 'brilliant' out loud during one of his scenes - I discovered later that she was referring to her amazement at how un-Nighy-like his voice was in the film. And I concur.)

2. Everything about Harry's part of the Ministry break-in, disguised as DAVID O'HARA (he was the king of Ireland, once, and I am so sad that messed about w/ Polyjuice potions and voices because it would've been nice to hear his gravelly Scottish voice again), was great. I enjoyed the subtlety with which they played the 'everyone at the Ministry is scared of Runcorn' thing. Particularly the bit by the statue with the wizards drawing away from him as he came closer.

David O'Hara's perfect capture of DanRad's mannerisms just won me entirely over. ♥_♥

(Also: my utterance to my Mum of 'that's Dave's Coaches!' when Ron's guy appeared.)

3. Dobby! The CGI was pretty great for Dobby back when we first met him in 2002. But what a difference 8 years makes, Lal, because fuck me if that wasn't one of the best acted CGI character scenes I've seen in my life. (He was a free Elf, Lal, a free elf.)

That was pretty bad in the book - but in the film I was crying in advance and just heart-broken by the end. (So help me - if they'd done the bit with everyone giving him bits of clothing? I would've been inconsolable.)

4. Emma Watson in the torture scene. I know it's a weird thing to be pick out but - Emma's always been the weakest of the Trio actors and it's fantastic to see her finally at a point of maturity. She sold that scene beautifully. And it was harrowing.

5. This is odd for me (never really been a fan) but Draco's hesitations were perfect. Tom Felton's come a long way from Philosopher's Stone - and it shows.

The whole film was magical, though. Bring on the next part! (Only don't because I just - Fred. Lupin, oh Gods, Lupin. I am about to die. Snape did it for love. Colin bloody Creevey.) (But do - the Battle For Hogwarts. Hopefully the return of Oliver Wood. Aberforth! Dumbledore's Army. Neville Motherfucking Longbottom. The Gringotts job.)

I AM EXCITED BY ALL REITERATION OF EXCELLENT POINTS

1. Yesssss, there were a few moments right when he first came on that I was like, wait, who is this Irish actor (because I forget everything I read about casting) because his accent was spot on. He was amaaaaaazing and his interactions with Luna were SO CUTE.

Not sure why Bill Nighy was randomly Welsh but !!! he was excellent, nonetheless.

2. The way everyone was just like, IT'S RUNCORN O_O. The whole thing was so fabulously done. The sheer terror on his face after he got out of the lift with Umbridge. Perfect. The actor playing Ron was so Rupert Grint also!

3. DOBBY. I knew it was coming but I was still unprepared for how much of a gut punch it would be. The CGI was absolutely flawless. The whole Free Elf speech was a great cinema moment, because you could feel the whole audience going \o/

4. I was so impressed by how they totally WENT THERE with the torture. That shot of her lying on the floor, just one tear going down her cheek. Gave me chills. And she wasn't upstaged by HBC, which is pretty much impossible.

5. His reactions were so great. He didn't have many lines but his facial expressions told his whole story so perfectly.

Oh my god the next part is going to be SO EPIC. Because they went further in the story that I was expecting so they clearly plan on GOING TO TOWN with the ending. Cannot. Wait.

*facepalm*

THAT'S who he was! Oh god I spent so much of the Ministry scenes muttering 'Who is he? I know him dammnit, who is he?!' And now you have solved my mystery - thanks! :D
