Happy as a fish in marmalade

I have nothing much to do at the moment, besides write and bake and generally doss about. So now is clearly the time for Acts of Spontenaity!
So tomorrow I'm going to London for the day to go to the meet up and book signing of a certain Miss Sarah Rees Brennan. I, um, may have mentioned her around here before. Once or twice...
It's going to be AMAZING. There are many excellent and cool people in her fandom and I will get to meet some of them! Anyone on the le flist going? I will be the girl in the zombie boyfriend tee shirt and expression somwhere between dazed and delighted.
And then I actually get to meet one of my favourite writers! I am very prepared to blither like a complete idiot.
It does mean that I have to spend a slightly ridiculous amount of time on coaches, be in London for about 7 hours and get home at some god-forsaken hour.
But I don't care! I've never done anything fandom-y before, ever.
Oh, this is how my housemates took the news.
Lal: In conclusion, this may the geekiest thing I have ever done.
Housemates: *burst out into hysterical laughter*
Lal:...
So, RL and fandom collide. Will I survive the impact? Will I be able to say anything more than "awbhfzhk" to Sarah? I'm looking forward to finding out!

Date: 2009-06-07 07:41 pm (UTC)But if you read this before you get on your coach-of-insanity, I would love to meet up with you in London at some point in the afternoon? You arrive around 2-ish don't you? How does 4 sound, if you are still up for meeting? I am meeting Isi at Old Street Station at 5ish, so we could meet up before and then go to meet her together? Don't know what you'd like to do in the time - go for a hot drink? Or just wander around London squealing with excitement? (If you message me your number or something then we can stay in contact whilst you are on a coach?)
Let me know, if you have time and I have not been completely useless and too late! If I don't see you before, I look forward with great glee to seeing you at the event itself!

Date: 2009-06-07 09:33 pm (UTC)I am better from my flu/chest infection, you will be happy to know. So I won't die in the middle of it all. At least, not from illness.
Seven hours is very long. It puts my debate of 60p/90 mins vs £5/45 mins into perspective.

Date: 2009-06-07 10:18 pm (UTC)(I realise I am only an hour outside London. But still. The train station is quite a walk! And then I have to get the tube!)

Date: 2009-06-08 12:13 am (UTC)Yay! Can't wait! And I will actually be on the coach like 5 hours each way. Ouch. But you're only young/unemployed and reckless once, right.
See you tomorrow! And yes, that is no debate at all. Mine was more £21/2 hours or £9/5...
