So today I went to our Carol Concert. I think I love carols more than anything about Christmas, apart form the lights, which never fail to turn me into a five year old, incapable of saying anything beyond "Shiny. Pretty. Sparkly. Twinkly."

I have been to a goodly number of these over the years, which has led me being able to pretty much recite any part of the Nativity, the Bible Version, and also, I have many delightful entries for that fun game "What small children think the lyrics of carols are!" Can you guess what they are?

"Go, Teletubby mountain"

"We three kings of Orry and tar" (Orry is a Manx boy's name)

"Two turtles gloves"

"I am the Lord of the damn settee"

There also used to be a little girl who would just sing "lalala Jesus" all the way through every song.

To give you a flavour of Christmas at home with my family, here is a typical scene.

lal, Grandmother and Great-Aunt are sitting in the dining room wrapping presents. occasionally one will hum a bit of a Christmas tune, two kittens are playing with the paper.

Great-Aunt: This is all very Little Women isn't it?
*present falls to the floor*
Grandmother: Oh, fuck a duck!

And oh bother, its somehow been a month since I updated Mission101. I am determined to keep this up if it kills me!

1. Brush my teeth twice a day.

10. Write something for a writing challenge each week. See sq_drabblers and thremedon communities. I haven't written so much cos of the craziness of work...

16. Cook something from scratch every month
Carrot soup. Mmmm.

17. Bake something once a month. 100 cupcakes with TIBET iced on them. With my housemates, we were all slightly crazy by the end.

25. See live music once a month. I saw the brilliant band 'Official Secrets Act'. I can't really review them because, well, they are my friends, I've known them for 3 years. So, I will put the words of a professional here instead.

"
Reaching for the sky like they just don’t care, this is big thinking indie for the masses.
‘So Tomorrow’ takes all the best bits of The Killers (their early glam, big rock, intimate voice) and Mystery Jets (brilliant harmonies), inserting it into a Echo & The Bunnymen-styled wide thinking, yet grounded lyricist (“dance till the bitter end/you are still my friend”.)

Originally formed in Leeds, the now London based quartet put heart and soul in their second ever single, what could’ve be a soulless textbook number is instead a rollicking (yes, I said rollicking) one. ‘Do Not Be Alarmed’ (the B-Side) is a marching band tainted, in love number. Vocalist Thomas Burke has a distinguishable, heart-felt voice which sooths the wounds which the spiky guitars make. ‘Ones to watch’, and this time I really mean it.

I'll just say, I'd love them even if I didn't know them.

26. Join a dance group and attend all meetings. Our dance teacher hurt her foot, so she cancelled classes. I'm not counting this.

28. Read a new book every month. The Year of Our War by Steph Swainson. i finished it today. Damn essays, they kill reading for fun.

32.
Donate 50,000 grains of rice to freerice.org. 10,000/50,000

35. Recycle all plastics paper and glass.

36. Buy from Poverty Aid. A scarf with silver stars on for Li.

37. Don't accept plastic bags at the supermarket.
.
44. Learn 5 new French words a week. I now know a LOT of words about poetry, Freud and relationships.

54. Make new friends in class and do out of uni things with them. Hot chocolate and lunches with Cara.

58. Hoover the house once a week.

94. Go Carolling. See above!

101. Doing it now!
