Yay for doing volunteering! It's something I absolutely want to do one day, but it will be very hard to squeeze in during the next few years. It's nice that it makes you feel better though; I can imagine how you must be feeling. My dad was redundant for a few weeks, but fortunately, he found a new employment pretty quickly. You could tell how it was getting him down though, and I used to drag him out to the cinema and stuff so he wouldn't brood at home too much. I guess it's pretty hard when the world makes you feel useless, but I'm glad you found a way to be useful and awesome, having fun at the same time! :) Hopefully, there will be work for you soon as well.
I totally hear you about the middle-class women trying to get money off. I will never understand these people. There are loads and loads of people who are worse of and who are happy to get things at relatively low prices, and I really wonder how the middle-class people get the impression that they have to save such small amounts. I'm middle-class myself, and I'm grateful for that because I know I can afford to buy some things. But this is exactly the reason I don't try to get money off of everything.
