Recently several very different people have expressed Great Shock and something close to outrage at the fact that I do not have a twitter account.

Technically I do. I just wanted to make sure no one stole my name, and then ignored it.

SO. People of the internet. What is so good about this fancy 140 character phenomenon? Alternatively, is there any evidence that twitter is, in fact, the devil (oh [livejournal.com profile] ontd_ai , will I never tire of your in-jokes)?

I am ready to be swayed either way!

PS. Has anyone else noticed that the chorus of this

which is the theme from Andrew Lloyd Webber's catastrophe new musical Love Never Dies

is EXACTLY the as the chorus to this -

from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical The Beautiful Game.

I am annoyed and wish to share this with the internet.

Man, maybe I should get twitter.

Isn't it a reason for the internet being born, anyway? :)

Have you seen Love Never Dies, by the way? I just amused myself with reading various scathing reviews...

Personally, I feel I'm too old to have a twitter account. Too hard to keep track of my complains, I need them all in one place. xD

I use Twitter to bookmark the fic that I have read and enjoyed (which people do insist on interpreting as fic recs), drop the kind of random bizarre link that I used to give IRC, make the sort of random bizarre statement that I used to make in IRC (the things that you would IM seven friends with and sort of hope someone wrote back, or announce one's presence to the Eternal Chat with), and carry out the sort of chatter one might have on IM but one might as well have in public.

Also sometimes what one had for lunch, and whether or not one has a sore throat, because this can be useful later.

I import mine (as you doubtless have seen) with a cut because I care. This is because I abhor the thought of my historical going undocumented.

Wow that's...actually quite amusing. (Especially when you play each one line by line and realise sometimes it even rhymes. Oh ALW, you are so unoriginal.)

I have a Twitter mostly because it is the only way I ever know what one of my friends is doing (he's useless at email, texting, calling and Facebook but updates his Twitter like a crazy addicted person) and it's quite nice to know what's going on with other people. But I don't update it myself very often at all - I check it about once or twice a day but have gone through months without ever 'tweeting'.

So I totally understand your not having got an account!
LOVE!

Lal, get twitter.

I know that like me, you are a fan of procrastination, and mild stalking, and twitter enables these hobbies like nothing else. It's brilliant! I use mine mainly to... well, to bitch and moan about things recently, but whatever. At least it means I don't update my facebook status nearly so much. Plus, twitter is excellent for breaking news or for passing round links to others internet things.

So yeah. Go, Twitter!

Well, darling. I have gone back and forth on twitter. I definitely go in phases. Sometimes I'm very much into it and then sometimes I don't post anything for months. I do like keeping up with some of the more amusing celebs on twitter (like the MCR boys and Adam and Kris and Jim Cantiello, etc), though. So it's good even if you're just planning to follow others and read your feed.

Oh please, grace us with your twitter-y presence! :) It is awesome for procrastination, as isi said. You can tweet all kinds of random things. You can learn all kinds of random things about random people! And also about not so random people! You won't have to google things like "Who sings the intro song to Lie To Me?" anymore, because there are people in the great big twitter family who will tell you in a matter of seconds. Or minutes. Or hours. But still. You'll be part of the big twitter family! It's cool! And awesome! And isn't awesomeness what all marmfish strive for, trudging along in Sarah's wake- who has twitter?

Twitter is great! :D And since I haven't done that in a long time, I'm randomly blaming you. For anything you like.

BUT IF YOU GET ONE THAN I'LL HAVE TO GET ONE.

I LIKE [livejournal.com profile] braniquignole'S ICON, BTW. I FEEL I SHOULD MAKE MYSELF ONE.

YOU MAKE ME ADDICTED TO THINGS. (I DON'T BLAME YOU FOR BRADAM THO.)
