This post is especially for two fantabulous sets of ladies, the very shiny [livejournal.com profile] marmalade_fish , and the ever beloved Ladies of Spam.

My first fandom meet up was amazing! I had so much fun! I mean, I suspected that I would, seeing as I spent a ridiculous/insane amount of time with many of my fellow fishes in the chat. I wish you all could have been there!

I got the bus to London, which wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Also, when I was waiting at the station...

Guy: *appears to be staring at my boobs*
Lal:*raises eyebrow*
Guy: No, sorry, oh god, I was just trying to see what the last line was!
Lal:*looks down at zombie bf tee* Oh, sorry. It says "He's a zombie."

Later I met [livejournal.com profile] hanelissar and had coffee and made excited noises at her, then we found [livejournal.com profile] altogetherisi and we all were a little dazed and delighted together.

The signing was at Murder101 club and was filled with many charming people, like [livejournal.com profile] playwithfyr , who made us a marmalade fish sign to attract fellow fishes, because we felt marching up to people and asking them their thoughts on lasagne might be a little too strange. And I met my fellow Sekrit Nefarious Organising Woman [livejournal.com profile] pigrescuer and also [livejournal.com profile] littlered2 , both of whom were sporting very excellent tee shirts, and lots of other super cool fun people whose names escape me (so sorry!).

The Author herself was very sweet, very witty and knew who I was, which still makes me happy to think about! The infamous 'they' claim that you should never meet your heroes, but that, my friends, is a lie.

In short, everyone I met was someone I could have talked to all night, and I was very sad when I had to leave. Like I said, I've never done anything like that before, and I feel all kinds of lucky to have stumbled across such a great fandom, Even if people keep blaming me for things on the chat...

VERY IMPORTANT ETA: The wonderful [livejournal.com profile] bryoneybrynn  is giving away a free copy of The Demon's Lexicon. Go here to enter!

Also, for my other lovely ladies (and anyone else who wishes to hear my dulcet tones), I present my AudioSpam, in which I say 'um...' a lot, and showcase my terrible language skills.

Here!

I hope you like it bbs!

Well, you say "um" very beautifully! And your French is sooo cute! And it gets even better - your German! Aaawww. :)

And I totally love that you tagged this under "Alan is totally scrubbing the cake tin". :D

My French is not so good, shamefully. My brain went to soup...

It is my new favourite phrase!

Icon, icon, mwahaha! Uh, sorry.

I could understand your French very well and honestly, I've heard worse! French with a terrible Canadian accent for example.

I'm glad to hear it! (Had I commented with this icon before, I could have used the Cake Tin icon now. Life is hard.)

OMG YOUR VOICE <33

I love to bake as well! You're right - food at the end = :DD

Oh god I'm so bad at French that isn't written, I have no clue what you're saying D: (very pretty! I heard very pretty!) and I'm going into my third year...

Omg, please do an American accent. I will die. I will even attempt British if you wish...

I loved making excited noises at you and receiving them in return. :) It was so wonderful! And I will never be as delighted as I was when I told Sarah 'It's Hannah' and she said 'oh of course!' I feel famous by proxy and I loved it all immensely. (And also you, who are lovely. Even if I did disgrace myself with flaily hands of glee and rambling.)

And if Polly ever finishes downloading your file, I shall listen to it and love it I am sure!

But French is my degree! I should be fluent! *cries*

I love that icon TO DEATH.

And I will mention the cake tin tag again, so you may use the icon, should you wish. I may use it as my 'talking about baking' tag.

&hearts&hearts!

We should all do accent next time! It will be fun! Colline has promised us a brogue, after all. I end up sounding like a valley girl or Dolly Parton.

I said nothing of import. I mentioned that I say "in fact" waaaay too much. And yes, I said French is a very pretty language.

I will never tire of that icon...

The flaily hands of glee was a high point for me! It was super lovely to meet you too, I am still kind of reeling at how much fun the whole thing was. What can I entice you with to make you post pictures?

You can be my test subject and tell me if I sound anything like my recorded self in real life.

Do not despair! It's my current French teacher's degree too and you speak a whole lot better than him. Does this console you? :)

Yes, please! I am in love with the cake tin tag.

Gah I want to listen but I have to be at work in half an hour and I'm still in my pajamas!

Was just going to say - I'm afraid you don't win the uber-long fannish bus journey award. I remembered my friend Elledoll, who came to London for a Green Wing signing from ABERDEEN. 19 HOURS. And no hotel, just went back up.

:D

*has discovered the non-radio*

*has listened*

:D

You have a very deep french voice. It is strange!

The end sounded more like you than the beginning, also. Plus, I am happy that I can now place the mysterious cadences you put on some words. I thought they were, um, Isle of Manonian. But South African makes more sense!

Um.. Helfen mich! Ich bin verloren!

In case you ever become lost in Germany.

XD

I know, I have a deep enough voice as it is, I don't know what happens...

Manx is the word you're looking for there. I've lived in so many places that my accent is very strange indeed. "mysterious cadences" is an excellent phrase!

Thank you!

YOUR VOICE IS SO CALMING ♥. THEY SHOULD BOTTLE IT UP AND SELL IT AS A SOOTHING BALM FOR THE EARS AND FRAZZLED NERVES, FOR REALS.

And I love how you and C have the French flourish-y sounds down pat, all the authentic sounding 'uhh's and 'alorssss', SO DARLING. ET JE TE COMPRENDS BIEN AUSSI QUAND TU PARLES, MOO HA HA HA MAIS JE SUIS TRES SUR QUE MA CAPACITE D'ECRIRE QUELQUECHOSES EN FRANCAIS IS TOTALLY DOWN THE SHITTER DEPUIS MON DERNIER COURS FRANCAIS A L'ECOLE, NO LIES. <--a fuckton of errors and ignoring the accent signs woo woo XD

Your German was so cute! You pronounce the 'ch' sounds stronger than I do lolol-- also my first thought was that you sounded pretty Swiss at first :D If you ever want to widen your arsenal, you know who to hit up ;D (IDEA FOR NEXT AUDIOSPAM POST?? Lolol)

Aw, thank you! If you are frazzled I will record things for you then, promise!

French is all about the silly little extra sounds, it's true. Me and Carina (one of my Austrian friends) used to have competitions to see how long we could speak for in French without actually saying anything...

I have school proper German, apparently. I am RP in all languages.

Me and Karen said we should all do accents next time! I may have promised to to my American.

YOU CAN SAY "CHILL THE FUCK OUT. I GOT THIS. YOU GOT THIS. WE ALL GOT THIS." OR SOMETHING, lolol.

The best thing about new languages besides the swearing and what colors and food are called is learning such random space-fillers. It's so much fun, and at least if one fails at the actual speaking, one can at least hemm and haww like a local ;D

RP TO THE MAX, IT SEEMS! HEE.

I am so bad at accents! Oh god, I sometimes try when I am alone and very bored, but even then I feel to mortified. Impressions and imitations, not so much my forte >_>;; (I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO START TRYING TO TELL JOKES, OR FUNNY STORIES AND THEN STOP HALFWAY THROUGH AND GO "SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS ITS REALLY FUNNY WHEN XY WHO IS NOT ME DOES THIS!!1" AND PEOPLE ROLL THEIR EYES LOL)

Ahhh your voiiiiiiice! So adorable! And so British, "which I approve of greatly" ahuhuhuhuhu. You are very soft-spoken - and "en fait" is actually the BEST FRENCH PHRASE THERE IS. You as well have perfected the 'euhhhh' of French umming XD
