Bits and Bats (Does Not Contain Actualfax Bats)

I keep thinking aout making a real, honest to God post. I am also thtinking about some sort of Intro/Masterlist post thing because, hi new people! I'm still trying to work out what people need to know about me. Suggestions?

But then I figured, ah, whatever, I might as well just throw together a random collection of things for y'all, featuring Inception, work, POST but sadly no bats.

Firstly, this is why I should always spend a lot of time on Skype with [livejournal.com profile] kaiserkuchen . But also why our Inception Big Bang plan is Somewhat  Vague (you guys we are doing Inception Big Bang and I am super excited and mildly terrified but GO TEAM US!)

Me: I don't know, whenever I think about Arthur's job I think, "what actually is a point man" and I just go to this weird 'A Very Potter Musical' place in my head.
Kaz: Two things about AVPM. No. Three things. Firstly, the Gotta Get Back to Hogwarts song is crazy catchy. The dude who plays Harry is crazy cute and the dude who plays Voldemort is like, craaaaaaazy hot.
Me: Yes, yes and yes. Anyway. So, I just think of Arthur standing up all earnest and going, "POINTMEN ARE PARTICULARLY GOOD FINDERS" and then Dom(bledore) squinting and saying, "... WHAT THE HELL IS A POINTMAN?"

Oh what times we have.

Inception Fandom remains incredible and really, really good for my Internet Bucket List. I was going to write "would be good for my Internet Bucket List" but that would be pretending that I don't have one. I am trying to keep up with the INSANE amount of fic being produced by reading on my phone on the way to work. Because I have [livejournal.com profile] bookshop 's delicious saved on my phone bookmarks like a creeper. Anyway, Say I'm The Only Bee In Your Bonnet now has 100 delicious saves! \o/ FOREVER! Plus [livejournal.com profile] taurenova has agreed to write her amazing AU (yay boybands!) if I write mine (er, ballroom dancing). This is actually the third Inception fic I have recklessly agreed to write via the medium of Twitter. The 140 characters makes me crazy, clearly. But, yes, so many lovely, lovely things :D

Incidentally, I love how we are all pretty clear about why we love Joseph Gordon-Levitt (because he is adorable and I have loved him for at least ten years ever since he was a snarky alien child and also he is seeeeriously hot. And also THIS  [he makes his own French part *_*]). But we all seem to be all kinds of confused about Tom Hardy, the man, the enigma. French film expert and shoe obsessive. Man with chav tattoos and who spells with numbers. IDEK, you guys, but ILHIM.

I have also recently got amazing post from Kaz and [livejournal.com profile] mcollinknight who sent me a awesome package with sweets and this amazing necklace which has flowers on one side and is made from an L scrabble tile. AN L FOR LAL SCRABBLE TILE, YOU GUYS. :D! And a postcard from [livejournal.com profile] shiningartifact , who went on holiday without telling me where and so I waited for her postcard to find out and it
was kind of super exciting for me. And also everyone else who I had told about this. Plus lovely voiceletters <3.

Work remains kind of this bizarre mixture of really dull and randomly hilarious. I work with this one guy who used to be in the army until he broke his leg in four places on a training exercise and it's so strange because I walk to work with him and he tells me about like, grouse shooting and kayaking and how he can't sleep because his company just got shipped to Afghanistan. And I tell him about how The Last Airbender is a bad, rascist movie and dancing. It seems to be working out okay.

Also we are all going out to a kareoke bar next month, as some sort of work bonding thing. We all have to sing. What the hell am I going to sing?!

And finally, in dancing news, I have started samba and reggaeton again :D. I went all of last year but I haven't danced since. It does mean that I have a *calculates* 14 hour day on Mondays, but it's so very worth it. I feel achey but very satisfied and I'm looking forward to feeling more fit and flexible. Plus I love my teacher, she's so great, and the whole class spent our break talking about Strictly Come Dancing. I love that show more than anything. It is genuinely my favourite show on television, the happiest of all happy places. Twitter friends, I'm really sorry about the spam, but love makes me crazy.

I think that's everything? I hope y'all are doing well. Tell me some news! I have seen many entries that I mean to reply to (OMG, Anna, seriously, you rock) and I will hopefully get round to it at some point. I pledge a love eternal to every one of you &hearts

Color is the new danger, Lal. GWay told me so.

OMG LAL, a shoutout!!! HIIIIIIIII!!!!! Hey, if you have no time to play with me on my lj, you don't mind if I play with you on yours. Good? y/y? Let's get to it.

I am at the bookstore waiting for the Honda people to accept my broken minivan to check on why the sliding door thingy doesn't slide like they said it would. I also might be anticipating a music industry magazine's interview with a certain band. But alas, Barnes and Noble wants to keep me away from Frank Iero for one more day. [raises fist at them] I might be a little bitter b/c they ALSO don't have TDL here and I need another several copies for, you know, the giving of pure joy and mystery to the world.

So! Your paragraph about your co-worker and the Airbender convo cracked me up in a weird unsettled sad kind of way. Like it's hard that you have such different existences, but then it's beautiful for the attempt at meeting somewhere in between? Even if that attempt is kind of fail? Because the desire to meet overrides the faily attempt? Isn't that kind of the case for all of us with everyone else in the whole world? But somehow illustrated in a funny way with your soldier coworker?? Am I saying anything at all? idek. I have another thought that that has to do with the Hunger Games; did you read it?

And Karaoke? Phil Collins. Can't go wrong, and it will remind you of Rave's fic, which I reread the other day. For some reason, Zoe telling Zach that "Pine said you were a hot mess this morning" puts me in a happy place. I am going to use the phrase "hot mess" for all sorts of things now.

And Maartje!!!!
"Please," Maartje says, with magnificent scorn. "How else happens a bruise like this?"

and

"For myself I don't listen to anything either of you talks about ever," Maartje informs them both, moving to get a better angle on Zach's eyebrows.

I just love her version of English. LOVE her.

I've been sending people your way for Inception fic. Hope that's fine. :)

Potter musical. I am not in that part of fandom, I guess?? Am I supposed to...see it? rent it? search online for it...?? Or just let it go, like that fad of buying a gryffindor scarf?

Ok. All for now.

LU! Anners

For serious, you have made like, three amazing and fucking insightful posts in a row and I have read them all before 8am and been floored and determined to comment after coffee and then I just don't but I WILL.

You are amazing in your TDl pushing, go you! I do hope B&N get it together for you. Is the NME? I swear I saw Gee's face in the newsagent the other day. Although i have a slight obsession so... Also I have been making up a ridiculous interpretive dance to Na Na Na. But also less ridiculously, it gave me the confidence to walk into a dance class by myself and say, "I'm talking an intermedeate class." So, yeah. Mm, dichotomy.

I think we are being quite successful! I mean, sometimes I think, oh god, I don't really want to hear about how many rabbits you clubbed this weekend. But we manage to have a decent conversation every single morning, despite the fact that the only thing we have in common is our age and our place of work, pretty much. And yes, I think we do have to connect, try to, despite fairly obvious obstacles. I have read the first two Hunger Games books and loved them both, we read the first one for bookdeyada and wow, it's amazing. So if it isn't a spoilery thought for Mockingjay, please tell me it!

Also I hope your slidey door starts sliding again soon. It is somewhat failing in its essential function, there.

But I am no ZQ or Capt Fine, could I pull off a Phil Collins?! But thinking of Rave's fic would make me happy! I just love Maartje! "For myself" is something my Austrian friend used to say, so, so perfect. MAGNIFICENT SCORN, OMG.

Oh, yesyesyes, that is very fine! If they want recs I highly rec (aha) the delicious page I linked to.

Oh, A Very Potter Musical is AMAZING, you have to watch it. It's on youtube. It's a sprt of parody musical but the songs are legitimately great and it's made entirely of love.

You too <3

I like it what people think after reading what I write. Yay! Glad you've enjoyed, and thanks for telling me.

I MUST SEE THE NA NA NA INTERPRETIVE DANCE. Oh, Lal. My current!fandom wish is to go to a My Chem show with you. I also had this fantasy involving an h/d meet up and you and me putting together an h/d fanon skit for the group, and then! My fantasy mind thought about how we'd write it and supplied the perfect answer. You would get SRB to write it for us. And we would perform the h/d fanon skit for our fandom friends. We'd need to get a few more people to join us to be Blaise, etc. OH MY GOD what a dream.

And your intermediate dance class is so great. Good for you for pursuing it. Rly. What did you write? Salsa?? Or something? So cool.

Oh, the HG ref. IDK. Nevermind. Ugh. Oh this adorable 13 year old boy "Tyler" in my science class found out I'd read HG and asked me, all excited, "Mrs. Anna, who did you like better, Peeta or Gale?" And I was internally like, "OMG you are shipping someone!!! I HEART YOU TYLER!!!"

And pretend I can keep a train of thought, okay? My rl friend read TDL and TDC and she didn't like the second book as much because she found it not realistic that Mae would continue to have feelings for Nick after finding out about him. How can a human have a relationship with something like him? She wondered. (We did agree the marking scene was made of smoldering hotness.) And we discussed the effectiveness of the scenes where Mae is reading Daniel's journal to Nick, about Nick's interest in being able to appear human and what the purpose was, and I was filled with thinky thoughts about the books and I was SORRY, so sorry I left fandom at the wrong time and wasn't around to discuss with you all. Dang it. Can I confess that I am nervous about reading Sin's POV? I don't know I will like it!!!! NERVOUS!!!!

Back to my dustverse fic. OMG motorbaby rent boys ftw.

AND! If Gerard got you to try dancing again, then he is what he says he is. And also, the magazine is Kerrang!:

Really, I loved them. The bit about a burst of mint on your tongue? I am still thinking about that.

It's more me acting out the lyrics stupidly and bouncing around the room. But you never know. Maybe I will get drunk and make you a video...

That would be so awesome. So awesome, OMG. I was thinking the other day about what I would do if I won the lottery (which will never happen because I don't play but) and I was like, FANDOM MEETUP. I would hire a castle or something and fly everyone there and we would act out parodies and read and write and ah, it would be amazing. Sigh. One day.

I haven't danced at all for more than a year and I always used to have a friend to go with so I was feeling a bit :/ about it. But once I was there and doing it I had a great time. It's samba and reggaton, lots of shimmying and booty shaking :D.

Oo, Kerrang! It's actually a radio station. We have in on quite a lot in the house because all the presenters are from the same area of the country as Nat and it makes him feel at home! Also the music they play is fairly solidly good.

N'aw, a baby shipper! I am totally Team Peeta ;). That's awesome.

Oh, TDL, it's such a fabulously thought provoking book. So much love. Sarah Rees Brennan, how so great? I loved TDC, mostly because Mae was so real and so great. Anyway, I will dig up my read along notes if you like :). When I am not sneaking comments to you on my phone at work...

I have confidence in the way Sarah writes girls but yes, it's easy to be nervous especially because I don't really feel like I know her.

Yay dustverse!

I have TOTES (damnit i hate it when it sneaks up on me) dreamed of the castle fandom meet-up: see #27 to Vaysh's meme:

YOU ACT OUT THE LYRICS. Awesome.

I WANT A RAY-GUN, LAL.

*DANCE OF TRIUMPH*

dude. i think i am actually running out of fic to read, it is starting to scare me. :|

[identity profile] laliandra.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
:D!

Wait, are we dancing because I am a creeper? Should I be dancing in a creepier way?!

Surely not? Have you actually read ALL THE FICS? O_O

Well, I would have more fic for you from me (formeforyou) but in one Dom keeps making unintentional double entendres and in the other Arthur will NOT come down from the tree.

Nope. Not kidding.

[identity profile] pyrimidine.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Every time I read/see something about Tom Hardy, I have to do it with one eye closed. I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT.

[identity profile] laliandra.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
You do have to be careful. Tom Hardy will blow your mind and leave you unable to function if you're not prepared...

[identity profile] isil-helyanwe.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 09:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, I just started ballroom dancing! Not exactly reggaeton, but whatever. We waltz and cha cha cha and tango and jive. It's fucking awesome.

Also, I saw that JGL video a few weeks ago and almost died from happiness.

[identity profile] laliandra.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to do ballroom and loved it, that is awesome.

I know! So delightful. It's like, how could he be any cuter? Cover Lady Gaga? Change the French to make it dirty? OH OKAY THEN :D!

[identity profile] branquignole.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you know that Darren Criss (the guy who plays Harry in AVPM) is going to be on GLEE? I am so looking forward to his appearance! Rumour has it that he is to be Kurt's love interest but I don't know whether that's true or not.

Late reply is late

[identity profile] laliandra.livejournal.com 2010-10-12 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I did hear that! Still excited! But I didn't hear that he might be Kurt's love interest. OMG, that would be amaaazing!

[identity profile] kaiserkuchen.livejournal.com 2010-10-11 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
BRINGING SENSIBLE CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR CONVERSATIONS SINCE ...2009?? YEAH THAT'S ME ALL RIGHT *PREENS*

You somehow have more badass co-workers than I do, though I am looking forward to mining my evergrowing pool of them for random facts and gossip over time (ALSO COMPANY PARTY THIS COMING SUNDAY lulzzzzzz this'll be iinteresting!)

YOU + DANCE!AU = A VERY EXCITED KAZ

[identity profile] laliandra.livejournal.com 2010-10-12 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
AH YEAH! Truly the world has never seen the like of our conversations. Cockroach CSI and the Jars of Ridiculousness are some of my favourites :D

Most of my co workers are slightly less badass, but office gossip is always fascinating. I look forwards to hearing all about the partay!

:D :D :D you are a lovely cheerleader. I figure, maybe, Mal refuses to take part in the competition and remains on the edges making snarky comments. Or something. IDK. Also there is going to be an exceptionally romantic denoument. And online forums of fangirls. And Robert and Saito being Deadly Judging Rivals. And Ariadne being awesome. Of course.

[identity profile] kaiserkuchen.livejournal.com 2010-10-13 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
COCKROACH HORATIO CAINE SAYS YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH after making a suitable pun that I am too lazy to think up now!

I just found out that the party will have "unlimited beer", so uhuhuhu potential drama, I look forward to observing your carnage!

ONLINE FORUMS OF FANGIRLS. THAT GIVE THEMSELVES NAMES. LIKE "ARTHUR'S ANGELS" (or something more funnier, consider this a placeholder!) I also support all Deadly Judging Rivals shenanigans <33 AND ARIADNE AND MAL BEING THE QUEENS OF THEM ALL~~

[identity profile] laliandra.livejournal.com 2010-10-13 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
After taking off his tiny sunglasses!

Awesome.

Eames decides is an adequate greeting for Monday morning is, “Did you know that there’s a forum thread dedicated to finding the best picture of your arse?”

Arthur sighs and goes back to stretching.

“It’s called ‘The Quest For The Holy Grail’” Eames says, looking entirely delighted.

Tralala. Also I am home sick, so if you are free we could chat?

[identity profile] kaiserkuchen.livejournal.com 2010-10-14 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Eames says, looking entirely delighted.

I AM ALSO ENTIRELY DELIGHTED. The Quest For The Holy Grail! I COULD ALSO GET ...BEHIND THAT, UHUHUHU :D

hope you are feeling healthier! Or at least, WORK IS NEARLY OVER??
